Getting Started
Your First Session
You do not need a complete explanation of what is wrong. A few words about what brings you can be enough to begin a conversation.

Step One
The Free Consultation
We talk for 20 to 30 minutes by phone or video about what brings you, what you hope will change, and how I might work with your concern. You can ask about fees, meeting in person, or telehealth. There is no obligation to begin therapy.
Reach Out
Call 206.601.8992 to ask for a consultation. Please keep private health details out of email or website messages.
I Confirm a Time
I reply personally to arrange our conversation.
We Consider the Fit
You can ask questions, hear how I work, and decide whether to arrange a first session.

Step Two
Our First Meeting
Our first full session is 50 minutes. We talk about what you want for the future and as much of your history as you want to share. Nothing has to be said before you are ready.
You do not need anything formal. A few notes or questions may help, and it is also fine to arrive without them. If you feel nervous, skeptical or unsure, we can talk about that too.
We can meet at 2331 East Madison Street in Madison Valley, at 601 Belmont Ave East #C2 on Capitol Hill, or by secure video. Telehealth is available to Washington State residents, including while you are traveling out of state.
Step Three
As the Work Continues
We set goals in your words and return to them as the work develops. I listen, ask questions, and partner with you to find a starting point connected with your hopes.
Questions You Can Ask Me
How would you work with my concern? How long might therapy take? How will we know it is helping? We can discuss methods and goals without promising a timeline, and make room for your honest feedback.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a referral?
No. You can contact me directly through the request form or by calling 206.601.8992.
What if I am not sure therapy is for me?
The consultation is a good place to find out. We can discuss your questions and what you would like help with before you decide whether to begin.
Can my partner come to the first session?
Yes, if you are starting couples therapy. We can use that first meeting to talk about what each of you hopes will change.
